Origin Stories and Fables
I have written about food origin stories before. The Native Americans have excellent stories about Mother Corn and her generous gift to the Native people. There are Chinese origin stories about different dishes. And there are variants of origin stories, like the stone soup story, which tangibly express some of the other qualities of food, such as sharing and giving love. Food is a way to tangibly represent love as in a formal, religious communion.
