There is an article written by Clementine Paddleford, the American food journalist, in the 1940s in which she talks about pizza. It is such a new concept at that time that she gives the pronunciation of pizza for those people who would have been unfamiliar with the concept of pizza. Less than 100 years later, the citizens of many cities in America consider pizza their own. New York considers New York pizza to be special. Chicago considers its pizza unique.
